The Assistant Account Executive (AAE) provides overall support to account teams by maintaining coverage tracker, media lists, visibility tools, supporting pitching and social content creation, drafting media alerts and loading releases to wire.  This position also participates on client calls, prepares agendas and recaps for client calls, and briefing documents.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

Account Support

Diligently track time in Function Fox for all accounts; strive to meet all personal and account utilization goals

Support overall efforts of leadership on each account

Daily maintenance of coverage tracker. Track coverage on launch dates and compile recaps

Create and maintain master media list and individual pitch lists

Create and maintain visibility tools including award and speaker lists, etc. 

Draft weekly agendas for client calls and send final agenda to client at least 8 hours prior to weekly calls

Load releases to wire

Save final docs to server on a regular basis

Contribute at least 25% on weekly client calls


Writing and Content

Compile Marketplace News 1-2 times per week as required by account

Create first draft of briefing documents 

Create first draft of weekly meeting agendas 

Create first draft of meeting recaps and action items 

Contribute to social media content creation activities

Create first draft of media alerts (where applicable)


Media Relations

Contribute to pitching activities (for many accounts this is the main focus) and manage the pitch bank

Track, research, and continually identify editorial calendar opportunities and pitch at least 50% of them; bring list/descriptions of upcoming opportunities for discussion and vetting in internal meetings

Flag relevant pitching opportunities

Create first draft of media pitches (where applicable)

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE (Select one of the following)

Entry level position with any public relations experience/exposure a plus

College degree in public relations, communications or marketing preferred

Demonstrated understanding of and experience with digital and social media



Strong verbal and written communication skills

Highly organized and detail-oriented

Shift tasks quickly, support multiple efforts on a daily basis

Proactive ownership of tasks, anticipates the needs of the team

Willing and eager to take on and learn new skills

Able to receive direction, ask appropriate clarifying questions, and make effective progress opposite tasks and deliverables

Able to develop and maintain positive relationships with internal staff and external account contacts
