POSITION SUMMARY

The Vice President (VP) serves as a leader of client service, office culture and staff development in the Seattle office. The VP oversees account strategy across multiple accounts and drives business development for the agency.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.  Other duties may be assigned. 

Demonstrate ability to scale work and knowledge across multiple accounts

Oversee strategy and management of accounts

Manage client contracts/renewals

Manage/negotiate scope of work with clients

Oversee “kick off” of new accounts

Helps brainstorm creative ideas/proactive pitches

Drive and close new business leads

Drive strategic direction for launches and account activity

Actively contribute to pitching efforts on key accounts

Participate in quarterly recaps and client meetings as necessary

Proactively participate and step-in/insert self to troubleshoot/problem solve accounts outside division as necessary

Drive and close new business leads, securing 1-2 per quarter until bandwidth is 100% utilized. After that, contribute to pitches with other team members.

Review critical written materials before they are presented to the client

Ensure client satisfaction

Responsible for ensuring appropriate investments in time by team members, commensurate with client retainers

Manage the overall recruiting process, interview new hire candidates

Responsible for staff development; proactively identifies process and cultural improvements

Host professional development workshops in critical areas for staff development

Conduct employee reviews and mid-year check-in on measurement; provide continual feedback to team members on areas of improvement

Work with HR to address employee performance and feedback

Maintain an open door policy to discuss acct status/issues at any time

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE (Select one of the following)

12 years minimum, progressive public relations experience (agency or in-house) including successful strategic leadership and business development

Experience in cloud, visualization, mobile, wireless, or other emerging technology sectors a plus

Multiple, established, long-term, strong media relations

Demonstrated understanding of and experience with digital and social media

 

SKILLS

Expert verbal and written communication with all audiences (all levels at multiple clients as well as internally; successfully customized pitching based on audience)

Demonstrated ability and success setting expectations and influencing others

Able to leverage long-standing relationships with reporters, clients, and internal staff

Adept at fostering growth and development of junior staff; sought after mentor

Successfully works on the business (strategically) as well as in the business (executes deliverables)

Consistently lands new business
